Nah. R&D and/or manufacturing expertise ? ...Sales and marketing is a core Shire competence, where effective targeting of prescribers allows maximisation of sales by a relatively small but high quality sales force. Shire combines investment in product development with careful attention to risk management. Shire avoids involvement in the highest risk area of discovery research for small molecules or research into genomics. Shire’s research and development focus is on late stage, lower risk projects in areas where the company has commercial presence.... Probably not. Have to say that I like their eye for the main chance, though.
