How many users are you supporting with your configuration? I didn't know cable modems were available at such industrial strength! In fact, I thought only applications like WebTV or the @HOME network were using them. I recently spoke with the owner of the ISP and he indicated there about 400 workstations on the system. That is not 400 companies for example, I have four on the system for my company. I know the local hospital has 22 stations. This was designed originally as a test for further deployment by Armstron Cable Systems. It has been a large success. They made a deployment in a relatively small market to see how it goes. A large city could be a real mess had there been more unexpected problems. The largest problem is still bandwidth on the backbone. MCI is bringing an OC 12 through the Erie markek which is forty miles away and UUnet has an OC 12 or even greater in the Pittsburgh area which is 80 miles away. I do not know that will occur after the merger of WCOM and MCIC. In the long run, I am hoping this huge demand for bandwidth helps the earnings of ASND,, COMS, etc. Glenn
