Perhaps because there is no downside to the US. When one closely examines the claim that the US supports Israel because it's in US interests it turns how to be a hollow claim. For many years no one really cared to examine it because all it cost us was a few billion a year. Now it's costing us that many times over plus thousands of US lives in Iraq. Now people ask and examine the claim. We better come up with a better reason.

Isn't the underlying reason why Israel never supports a UN peacekeeping missing is because it's not in Israel's interest to do so?
