AER Energy's Zinc-Air Battery Enables Remote Data Capture For Up To 30 Hours Between
Charges

Bartizan Selects AER Energy's PowerSlice Pro for Expo! The Database Builder

SMYRNA, Ga., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- AER Energy Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq:AERN), announced today a new application in the electronic data capture market
for its rechargeable zinc-air battery. Bartizan Data Systems LLC selected AER Energy's PowerSlice Pro(TM) rechargeable zinc-air battery for use with its
electronic data collection product, Expo! The Database Builder(TM) (''Expo!''). The Expo! system consists of a microprocessor-based unit with a swipe strip and
3-1/2 inch disk drive. A user can swipe or scan a tradeshow attendee's badge and collect the information in digital form. The data is automatically stored on the
Expo!'s built-in floppy disk drive, enabling the exhibitor to download valuable lead data into popular database software for sorting and follow-up contact. AER
Energy's rechargeable zinc- air battery can power the Expo! for up to 30 hours of active card reading on a single charge. The long runtime battery option adds
flexibility to the Expo! and increases convenience for the exhibitor. Now exhibiting companies can use the Expo! in any venue, in any location in their booths without
worrying about access to AC power or the cost of extra AC power lines to their booths.

Craig Jung, marketing manager for Bartizan, stated, ''The AER Energy PowerSlice Pro is a fantastic option because now the Expo! can be used as a
battery-powered data capture system rather than as a corded AC device. With battery-powered capability, we see a number of new applications for our products
that were not feasible before AER Energy's PowerSlice Pro battery. This gives our users the flexibility to place their Expo!'s in a convenient location in the booth.
Some exhibitors can save several hundred dollars by eliminating the need for AC power in their booth to operate their lead collection systems. Furthermore, battery
operation ensures that data does not get corrupted by power fluctuations that are so common at exhibit halls.''

''The Bartizan Expo! application is an example of how new battery technology enables the development of new products and creative uses for existing products,''
explained Frank Harris, vice president of marketing and sales at AER Energy. ''The zinc-air technology benefits of long runtime and light weight enable
battery-powered operation of the Expo! and more convenient usage of the product at tradeshows. In addition, the need to scan, store and transmit data and images
from field locations is growing in a multitude of industries. We believe there are many other potential applications in the remote data capture market that can benefit
from our zinc-air battery's long runtime advantage.''

The PowerSlice Pro, a l0-volt long runtime battery, uses AER Energy's latest zinc-air cells. The battery includes the following features:

-- AER Energy(TM) rechargeable zinc-air technology for high energy
density by weight
-- 180 watt hours of energy to provide the Bartizan Expo! with up to
30 hours of runtime on a single charge
-- 3.4 pound weight which provides more energy per pound than other
batteries
-- "fuel gauge" to let users know how much charge is in the battery
-- alarm to warn users of low battery capacity
-- low self-discharge rate for long storage life
-- full charge, so the battery is ready to use when purchased.

Using the latest electronic components, the Expo! is a light-weight 4.5-pound microprocessor-based system. ''We selected the long runtime PowerSlice Pro
accessory battery because of the light weight and high energy storage of AER Energy's rechargeable zinc-air technology,'' said Elliot Tropiansky, director of
electronic engineering for Bartizan. ''The PowerSlice Pro can run the Expo! throughout a five-day tradeshow without needing to be recharged. This is a major
convenience for the exhibitor.''

''The long runtime battery option for the Expo! is a feature we need for our customers,'' commented Dave Frey, director of lead retrieval services for J. Spargo and
Associates, a full-service exposition registration and housing management company, a Bartizan customer. ''We used the PowerSlice Pro battery with the Expo! at
the recent 1997 International Baking Industry Exposition five-day tradeshow and had outstanding results.''

Bartizan Data Systems LLC, a manufacturer of data collection solutions for the banking industry for over 25 years, introduced Expo! to the tradeshow industry in
November 1996. Expo! represents one application in Bartizan's ''5000'' line of automatic data collection terminals and is currently rented and leased to tradeshow
management and registration companies. For more information about the 5000 line of data collection terminals, contact Bartizan at 1-800-431-2682, or for an
