You are obviously more of a newbie than I am on genetics. In fact, both mothers and fathers contribute genes to their offspring.

The mothers provide the mitochondria. The fathers provide the Y chromosome. They both provide a hash of other stuff.

The mitochondria is nothing to do with brain design, though it provides energy to cells [I think I have that right].

It's the genes which make the brains. After birth, all that can be done is to stop the genes properly developing to their potential. They do NOT all have the same potential. No matter what you do, a chimp will not invent relativity theory.

There's a silly rumour going around that any baby can be made into any wondrous adult. Not true. Without the right blueprints, you can't get the right stuff. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
