Verizon Fios sales is around 500,000 now.

It was proposed from fiber optics to passive network(RF or wireless) to houses. But the latest advertizement had the IR fibers(wavelength 1310, 1490, and 1550 um) go right to the house.

This probably is due to lack of bandwidth(with 2 HDTV per house) even with GPON(gigabit passive optical network). As usual, first generation PON has no QAM or multiplexers on top of carrier frequencies. We are proposing sub audio carrier frequencies for more bandwidth and channels for distance on copper. More carrier frequencies(SAF, Rf, and If) never hurts.
