While sitting at my computer sipping a smooth homemade Italian red wine while researching to find the non-existant "Holy Grail", (hope springs eternal), it occurred to me that at least 95% or more advertisements of courses, technical indicators, software, spreadsheets, algorithms etc.etc. are based on determining the next up or down move of the markets. They all work some of the time.

It would seem one would cancel out the other leaving behind a trendless trail of small trading ranges. Excluding the occasional pop of news.

If the above is true, who are the remaining percent that the 95 percent or more are trying to follow? And with so much high technology and experience out there how are they able to accumulate or sell to meet their goals without being detected?
Or is it no one moves the market and the real money is made by
commissions and interests on traders money.

I don't get it.
