I think any "theocratic fears" the Democrats bring up are certainly justified, especially when you see a President like Bush going against science, public opinion and common sense in vetoing stem cell research.

Bush is doing what he's doing on moral grounds, his religion and his conscience says it's wrong to perform abortions and do embryonic stem cell research.......There's millions more TAX PAYERS that think exactly the same way. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but I can certainly understand why he's against those things. As far as the millions of others that agree with Bush....they have every right to have a say how their tax money is spent....... BTW here's something that you liberals love to gloss over, Bushes veto doesn't hinder private research into embryonic stem cell research one iota so if the science is there it's going to happen anyway just without John Q Public paying for it.

The Republicans cynically use Religion to try and create cultural divisions over relatively unimportant issues like "gay rights" so that they won't have to address Major issues like National Debt and Wars of Choice.

You have a problem, you're totally jaded commenting on anything the Republicans do. Funny, where you see cynicism in "unimportant items" others see core values, as important as any other issue out there.
