Ann Coulter isn't really claimed by the moderate RW. Most people recognize her for the no holds barred, narcissistic, "look at me and buy my book!" person she is. She is bright, quick, and witty, but without conscience. She has great appeal to young woman, apparently, who probably see in her a model of the rebellious "don't tell me what to do or say" attitude of the young.
But I don't think that Mrs Edwards calling in was a great move. I hate to see people lower themselves. It appeared opportunistic in some ways, when they used it for fundraising (not sure how that is supposed to be "standing up to Coulter"). Edwards right now is slowing wilting and he needed a goose.
On the other hand, this is a woman who loves her husband, has lost a child, and is battling cancer. If she wants to get pissed at someone who seems to have no emotional life, beyond hatred, I;m not going to get in her way. |
