"Classically" liberal is past liberal, and that becomes todays conservative, since conservative is by nature clinging to the past, while liberals and progressives want change, and thus for them the past is conservative- no matter what it was. You see that, right?

No, I see that you are hopelessly confused as to what liberalism actually means. It is not today's fashion in ideas, which is what you seem to think.

"Past Liberals" (your term) believed in universal human rights.
"Today's Liberals" believe in multi-culturalism.

The way things are going, tomorrow's liberals will probably believe in Sharia.
