I understand the point about this giving Intel even MORE of a monopoly, but it puts the DOJ and FTC in a strange position. It will be almost as if they are FORCING other companies to compete against Intel even when such competition is unprofitable to the other companies. My own opinion is that even though they won't like it, they will let this sale go through, under the circumstances. I do think, however, that Intel's business practices will be under intense scrutiny for years to come. I think that the final outcome will be something like "OK, Intel, you are a monopoly and we're not going to be able to change that, but your behavior had better be PERFECT", and Intel will accept that, and things will go on more-or-less as they have been.
