Perhaps you missed the "very simple and clear" words here:

> Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

If you're not allowed to display religious stuff in public, you are severely restricting the free exercise of religion. How else are you supposed to practice your beliefs that shape your entire world view, if the government restricts that world to the parts that won't risk offending anyone?

If you can't tolerate it, that's your problem.
