Sicko

It's a fantastic movie, imo. Is it a little manipulative in places? Well sure. I could have skipped the trip to Cuba- it doesn't add anything to the point (although I was glad to see the people in the movie got treatment- they certainly deserved it), and it made my husband grumble all the way to the car "Why are will still embargoing Cuba" and so on, and distracted him from talking about health care with me for a good 10 minutes.

So, that said, it's got a lot of good points to make. I do think as more and more people find themselves up against a wall with health insurance, especially with preexisting conditions and rising costs, more and more Americans are going to wonder why we are the only Western country without universal care. I know I wonder that. Pretty creepy to see Tricky Dick (Nixon, not Cheney) talking about the for profit HMO system, back in the day. Considering what he says about it in the movie, it's no wonder they're screwing people out of care now. I won't tell you what he said and ruin the suspense for you :-)

Michael Moore has done a great service by bringing this issue to the table, where we can all discuss it.
