Thanks for the fact checking. I posted those things in order to find out if what I had read was true.

It is still not good to have tens of millions more mouths to feed every year and decreasing supplies of food in storage. Coincidental crop failure in the northern and southern hemispheres, plus any disruption of worldwide distribution systems, plus any deliberate political interference, could mean a lot more Darfurs around the world.

And since crop fertilizer is now largely a product of natural gas, energy shortages would magnify the problem.
