To pcyhuang of Contrarian Investing. Speaking for myself, there are several aspects of "Board communication" that don’t go down well with me.
Firstly, if anyone disagrees with anything someone else may say, then I believe it’s only common courtesy that the issue should, at least, be discussed, or debated, in public or in private.
Secondly, if one of the parties is prepared to discuss, or debate, the issue, then, once again, I believe it’s only common courtesy that the originator of the issue, or complaint, should at least acknowledge receipt of the approach and make some attempt to be constructive.
Neither of the above two aspects were conducted, therefore I feel inclined to bring this out into the open, and the reader can draw his/her own conclusions.
After my post, #1328, at Contrarian Investing, I received a PM from pcyhuang as per (A) below, followed shortly thereafter by a Banning. I replied as per (B) below. To date, I have not received one word of reply or acknowledgement from pcyhuang. Needless to say, that is his business, as is his preference as to how he conducts affairs at his Board. Likewise, it’s also my business as to how I would prefer to communicate with folk at SiliconInvestor, hence my modus operandi in this regard ....
(A) pcyhuang to bruwin (On the 15th. June '07) :- I think that you are being just a bit too persistent in your view of how to value a stock. I wish you would keep that opinion to yourself. This forum is not to focus what is the "right" way of analyzing a stock's potential.
(B) bruwin to pcyhuang (On the 17th. June '07) :- Further to your PM to me, one has to wonder what it is you have to Fear should someone express an opinion about any aspect of stock analysis ? This is the second time you’ve seen fit to exclude someone from one of your forums without being prepared to discuss or debate, in public, what it is you may not be in agreement with. Surely none of us should ever consider we have nothing further to learn, or be informed about, with regard to company or market analysis.
If there was anything in my Message #1328, or any of the others at ‘Contrarian Investing’, that you consider to be incorrect, or extraneous etc.., then I’m certainly more than willing to exchange views, or debate the issue, in an Open forum.
Surely the presentations made by other folk, such as 'vernie62884', or 'FHM' etc.., are examples of their "view of how to value a stock", and, as such, are expressions of "their opinions". It seems that your "banning" tends to be directed towards those who may adopt an investment or analysis strategy that may differ from your own, ... or am I mistaken ?
With regard to your assertion about the "right" way of investing, I don’t believe I ever stated that I saw my own strategy as being the one and only "right" way. If you disagree, then I’d be interested to read your public interpretation of what I said.
And with regard to "keeping that opinion" to myself, I’m really surprised to read such a blinkered approach to open discussion and debate. Surely forums such as SiliconInvestor are ideal venues for anyone to be exposed to rational, sensible and constructive communication, and this should be ENcouraged, not DIScouraged. My own Board, ‘Fundamental Value Investing’, welcomes anyone who wishes to make their point and opinion heard in a manner conducive to constructive debate. I have nothing to fear in that regard. |
