ENFORCE THE LAWS
boortz.com

Michael Chertoff has some late-breaking news ... the federal government doesn't have the ability to enforce laws when it comes to illegals working in America. No Mr. Chertoff. You are wrong. The federal government does have the ability to enforce the laws. It's the political will that is missing.

Chertoff said that the government is going to continue to enforce the laws, but "it is going to be tough." Really? Tough, you say? Sure it's tough when you're trying to enforce laws that politicians simply don't want enforced. How much easier would it be for you if we built that 15-foot tall double fence along the border? My guess is that things would get easier in a hurry.

Here's another idea. Penalties for employers. Tough ones, not just slaps on the wrist. And while we're at it let's improve the government databases that identify legal residents. How hard can that be? You say you don't have the funds? That's bull. The money is there, but they are too busy being spent on Prairie Highways in Illinois and public arts projects in Ohio. Cut the pork. Make Congress – especially Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and David Obey – put our money into border enforcement. If they want to do something about immigration, cut the pork and spend the money where it actually needs to be spent.

Once the fence is built, there is a way to enforce the laws, and once businesses are actually concerned about the penalties for hiring illegals, the work will dry up. No work .. no dinero. No dinero .. time to migrate again. Back home. That's called self deportation. And all you have to do is cut their resources. Enforce that one, simple law ... and you have the beginning of a grand immigration policy.

Here's another simple idea. What if we passed a federal law making it a crime for anyone who is in this country illegally to transfer money earned here out of the country? If you want to hear the Mexican leaders scream bloody murder, just give that one a shot.

You can't hide behind the law as an excuse. Especially when it comes to illegal immigration.
