Roger,
Brocade's announcement certainly lowers the bar on price, but not by quite as far as it appears. They are quoting $1,875 per port, without media. That price should be equivalent to Ancor's $1,995 per port, without optics, not their $2,495 per port price with optics. Ancor still has the highest performing switch, along with Class 1 and Intermix support. It also wasn't clear to me from the press release if FC/AL support for SilkWorm was available immediately, or if they were referring only to the lower price.
That being said, I still want to commend Brocade on an excellent strategic press release. Once again, they have shown us what SHOULD be happening at Ancor on the PR front.
As Kelly said in an earlier message, this type of back and forth is quite normal for technology companies.
