Scrapps, I was thinking along the same lines. I was wondering what unused instruction cycles? You mean they only use those unused ones, or do they occaisionally use some of those instructions that I might want to be using when I'm trying to make a trade or keep up with SI.

Such a joke. I mean a modem program needs high priority processing because when the signal states change, or data is being dumped on you, it's take it or lose it. Those unused instructions become instructions that you can't use, rather than the other way around. So you pay $50 to get some piece of software that uses up 20-25% of your cpu and memory that accounts for $400-500 of your system cost so you can save $50 over the cost of a separate modem. (Not to mention that your computer is now slower for your other applications.)
