I think GSS doesn't have a power "shortage" per se (or if it does, it's small). They are using their old diesel generators to make up for any shortfalls from the national grid. The question is, when will the cheaper oil fired power plants be online, and eventually, when will the newer and even cheaper nat gas fired generators be online? I think by the end of the summer for number one, and maybe in 6-12 months for number two. Of course an end to the drought will bring on even cheaper hydro-electric power, the cheapest on the continent. So basically, production is being affected minimally, though the energy expenses are set to improve in coming months.

They got a bigger energy allotment from Ghana for their new Biox plant a while back.

The nat gas fuel depends on completion of a pipeline from Nigeria (or was it Niger). Then they just convert the new energy plants to nat gas.

As for Biox, rumor seems to be that it takes 14 days at 75% of capacity for Biox to be declared "commercial," and that we are probably in that 14 day period as I type. So an announcement could come at any point this month.
