Steve,

Your comment re ANWAR should be reexamined.

ANWR
I am against drilling. Not because it will do harm, but because the piece mill tiny production increases we might get only hinder meaningful advances in alternate energy sources. It is a silly divisive attempt at an issue to make it us against them. Extremist would drill every last drop of oil - even if it meant drilling in the bedroom of their dying grandmother. At what point do we say - okay, lets work together as a nation and find a real solution.

The concept of alternate energy sources solving our problem is simply one not backed on analysis. Let me be precise. We need to make a forecast of what our energy demand will be over say a 15 year horizon. Within that forecast we need to say where it is going to come from. Once we define where the energy is going to come from we need to enact policies to make the forecast come true,

It is my belief that any credible forecast would show alternatives as playing a fringe role in meeting our needs. The idea that alternatives can be forced to fill our needs by depriving us of known conventional sources is at best dangerous and at worst catastrophic for our economy.

Your political positions are emotional and to me dangerous. You want things to be some specific way and have no concept of the implicatons of your want. Ethanol from corn is a perfect example of do gooders gone nuts - and the price is now to be paid.
