Wharf, You might pause long enough to look into your own heart.
What role is sarcasm playing in this post of yours, which you have made in response to various posts of mine?
You say words to yourself about me --- that I am just one more insect crawling out from under the Dome of the Rock.
What is really going on with you? My guess is that something rather complicated is involved. My guess is that like all of us, there is some part of you that cannot be bribed away from truth. This part of you knows that Israel’s occupation of the West Bank is indefensible, that she is occupying the land of another people by force, without consent of the people whose land is being taken, without agreement reached in any international forum, and without approbation of other countries in the region. The part of you that cannot be bribed also knows that you cannot engage in a debate with me, in which we appeal to a common standard of truth and decency, because by that standard, Israel’s actions are unjustifiable.
So, how do you deal with me and with my point of view, being as you are, or so it seems to me from reading your posts over the years, a fundamentally decent person?
Answer: sarcasm -- by means of which you create a little dust-devil of emotion, an internal whorl of piss-off and contempt in relation to me. This allows you NOT to have to face what is really going on in Israel or to have to engage in a debate with me in which you grant legitimacy to me as a human being, and thus to my point of view. You and Michael and Nadine do to me what Israel does to the Palestinians – you devalue me as a human being because you do not want to deal with me. That is, you do not want to accommodate my interests, which in relation to the topic in question, means no special standing for Israel, period.
The trouble with devaluing people, and riding roughshod over their interest, is that pretty soon they are doing to you what you are do to them.
A word of warning: a lot of anger is building up in this country in relation to you people. If I were you, I’d proceed with a little more in the way of wisdom, and a little less in the way of aggression. |
