"China, I believe, is talking aobut diversifying 300 billion of foreign reserves immediately. That means selling dollars."

just a tempest in the making. it has been mentioned previously the Russians will be doing the same, the Australians will be doing the same; however which way it will work will require political/ financial dexterity.
you would imagine they would not want to destroy what they currently own; probably investing what they think their excessive surpluses be.

as a side issue:
the Taiwan website that was brought to this thread is an interesting read in different catagories, fore instance exchange rates> investintaiwan.nat.gov.tw
you can see that it took C$1.5693 in at the end of 2002 to buy US$1.00; at the end of May 2007 it took C$1.0940 to buy that same US$1.00...+30% growth on Canadian currency strength in 4 1/2 years.

despite all the whichever way political rhetoric occurs on the SI threads, the current fiscal fiasco (funny alliteration) in the US has been good for our northern neighbors as well as the rest of the world; hopefully, all those US denominated dollars Bush is printing don't go to sh*t too soon.
