LindyBill:

If we want to make America more secure, decrease gasoline prices, have cleaner fuels, and increase the reliability of supplies, we need to get the government out of the way of the entrepreneurs who can deliver those things.

Generally I believe in this statement. However, it also needs to apply to oil companies. Oil companies should never be given incentives by government and need to pay for the entire cost of their products. That is one reason I am against the Iraq war - not the Afghanistan war but the Iraq war! Why are we really in Iraq? Any reason given fails the stink test except oil security. If it is oil security , then the cost of the war is a part of the cost of oil production. However that part of the cost of oil is paid for - not by the oil industry - but BY THE TAXPAYER! As Ron Paul has argued so well, we have taxes because of this crap of messing around all over the world. Many of those who support the war, are pathetically dishonest in their unwillingness to pay for it. You can't have a mess like in Iraq without paying for it - if not now, then give the bill to our children. It takes taxes to do that - so at least be honest enough to be willing to pay higher taxes.
