Very few in India too compared with the wholesale carnage of partition and sundry conflicts, not to mention famines and stuff.

You can't get by the fact that every country colonized by Britain is better off than ones colonized by other European powers. But some of the things they did stick in my craw.

One that really gets to me was that India provided England with almost all of their cotton. But the Indians were forbidden to use any of it. They had to bulk-ship it to England and buy finished clothes from them.
