Some of the things governments do now stick in my craw. I haven't got time to worry about the nasty and stupid stuff they did centuries ago.

Viewing history using today's values is silly. Contraceptives hadn't been invented then, nor a lot more besides. Getting righteous about it is ridiculous.

The common assumption that the English colonial expansion was bad is absurd.

My point is that African countries would still benefit from colonial acquisition, or something similar, such as becoming part of a NUN federation.
