Another point about infinity, is that if time is really infinite, it is infinite both ways, backward and forwards, which is a paradox, as that cannot happen, as everything would have already happened that could happen, which cannot be either as there is still time for infinite possible things to happen. Which would mean that only repeats can ever happen in the future happen if time was bi-directionally infinite -- and it always would be at any point in time.
If it were true that infinity went backwards to no beginning, then all cataclysms of chance such as are predicted by quantum thermodynamics would also have happened, and all possible universes would have already been created and destroyed by chance. This is seen by the chance that all atoms would have randomly at one time fluctuated in some way to destroy all life and matter. Slim chance, but that is what infinity is for, to explore all chance.
If we were not at the middle of infinite time, then we would be closer to the beginning, which would mean time would be infinite in only one way, forward. If this were true, it would also mean that either a) the universe would have to be infinite in lifespan, which is not predicted by entropy increase. (heat is not retrievable). So we know that time is not infinite nor is the universe, boys and girls. Time is after all a vector tied to matter's 'life', or the energetic fact. Once matter is dead, or all its energy dissipated, then there is no more time. It cannot be measured, so it has in fact ceased. or b) there is a mechanism of reversal of heat death of all matter.
i.e. the universe contracts to a point i.e. a single black hole, and begins again.
It may be that gravity due to dark matter has not been properly calculated. Some say that the perceived expansion of the universe can overcome all gravitational span as expansion is very large and gets larger in force where gravity gets weaker, but I doubt that is proven conclusively. It may be that expansion is getting slower and the measurement of its expansion and the acceleration of that speed thereof is not correctly done from this particular sector of the universe. It also may be that the red shift is not properly interpreted.
It could be too that that matter being equivalent to energy, that when all energy dissipates, matter simply disappears. Unless some dark unseen, unmeasurable spirit force recreates energy, matter and time when he or she is satisified that he or she wants to play again. This force we shall call Frodo, and if you deny it you will be slain. The force of faith in Frodo after all is over all other knowledge as Frodo is over all other things as Frodo exists. And he must exist if the universe was started at all, as it must have been as it is here. And since it would be dangerous to deny it to Frodo, we might as well make it equally dangerous to deny it to his true disciples. Hail Frodo!
