The Iranian GOVERNMENT, not the Iranian people. There's a difference.

And if the US is able to produce sufficient evidence to convince not only the international community, but ALSO the Iranian people, that their government is killing fellow Shi'a, it's not likely to win them any additional support from their populace.

It might be one thing to kill American soldiers, but supporting Al-Qai'da suicide bombers who are killing Shi'a Iraqis is not something they want publicly exposed.
