lets say I have a pragmatic view of things.

the 'Detroit car culture' & it's required transportation system (subsidized highways of course & with all it's associated 'sensory deprivition' info signs out & about)...is this something one would call an efficient economic model in trying to wring every penny from our pocket, or even a 'quality of life?
add to the given- the declining value of the dollar, the increasing public & personal debt loads (I will not venture into the 'private equity funds' increasing inability to fund their desired debt loads in leveraging their so- called investments...soon to be/ maybe, a kerplunk sound of the toilet, if interest rates are raised).
in other words, our increasing inability for even remedial environmental corrective action if needed.

I would think as we spiral down the highway full of ourselves there must be a better way of going about the business of the world. the Kyoto agreement is agreeable to me, it is on the right track (the vast majority of Americans are of the opposite opinion than congress/ industry).
given the interferences of Wall Street/ & congress to any meaningful solutions in resolving global environmental concerns, I dismiss in general anything out of Washington. I do not trust.
