We had a bunch of math prodigies in my year -- you know the type, by the end of the first week of classes we had mastered the entire year's course -- so they created a special class and brought in some university profs to give us some lectures in the hopes of keeping our interest alive.

In the end I was the only one who went on to get a university math degree -- though two of the others became astronomers -- but even I gave up on a career in math when I in 4th year I ran across those much more prodigious than me. Oh, and when I got to the level where I actually had to put in some hard study to master the stuff instead of grasping it immediately like I had been used to.

In case you were wondering, not a one of us ever got a date in high school. LOL
