I've argued with some Catholic relatives on this point. According to them, once a man has squirted in a woman, a miracle might take place. The condom is a miracle-preventer.

If that's the only rationale it seems they would be huge fans of free sex - the more miracles the better. But they generally aren't like that. And during your wife's pregnancy, it seems finding some new partners is more likely to produce a miracle rather than fooling around with your wife. Maybe that's why Mormans were polygamists? Who knows?
