If you are anywhere near correct on this assessment (which I think you are), then doesn't it make sense that we start lookig at alternatives in a more urgent manner.

I am incapable of even doing a back of the envelope calculation on this, but just intuitively, one hundred (plus or minus one hundred years) is not far off. If that is anywhere near the case, shouldn't someone be looking at the long term implications?
