Or, we could just stop preserving them, treating them with kid gloves, spending *billions* to protect them from their Shiite enemies.

(It might actually be QUITE HELPFUL for American national interests... I mean long-term strategic interests like the advance of Democracy, rule of law, religious and civil freedoms, Capitalism, etc., it the Sunni bloc were to become embroiled in a more direct conflict with the Shiites.... That might be the single *best way* for the Middle East to advance into modernity and a more secular approach to government --- to have the extremists on both sides discredit their causes and exhaust their societies first, all on their own and without Western meddling.)
