Fuel cells powered by carbon based fuels produce CO2. However the much higher efficiency of fuels cells relative to the internal combustion engine is a large advantage. Long-term the potential to use hydrogen in fc's with zero CO2 emission is a real positive. As an environmental professional(ep) I have followed the climate change issue since the early 80's. Even then it was number one on the hit parade of ep's as the most pressing environmental problem. I don't think that much action will result from this conference. We have to have a crisis that is pressing before there will be serious action. The science has been there for a long time it's the political will that is lacking. Plus the special interest fossil and uncreative car companies particularily the American ones that lobby against any real action on climate change.
