New Brunswick to Be Bought by Eppendorf for $110 Million in Cash

EDISON, N.J. (AP) -- New Brunswick Scientific Co., a maker of scientific equipment, said Wednesday it agreed to be bought by privately-held laboratory equipment maker Eppendorf Group for $110 million in cash.

Eppendorf, based in Hamburg, Germany, agreed to pay $11.50 per share, which represents a premium of 43 percent on the stock's closing price Tuesday of $8.03.

The New Brunswick board approved the planned sale and recommended that shareholders vote in favor of the transaction.

The companies expect the deal to close in the third quarter, pending customary approvals.
