Hello to everybody in Keno Land! Just pulled this off the local news wire, it's not good news but not bad either.

CBC 12:30 P.M. NEWS MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1997

1. Federal officials have decided not to charge United Keno Hill Mines in connection with a spill of contaminated water this spring, however the company has been given an order to take preventative action and a warning that future spills could result in charges. The head of enforcement for the federal Environment Protection department estimates that 16,000 cubic metres of contaminated water escaped from the mine this spring and could have wound up in fish bearing streams. George Balmer says it's important to maintain vigilant inspections of mining operations but he can't say why the Justice department chose to issue a warning in this case instead of charging the company.
