Doxorubicin causes irreversible heart damage, which limits its usefulness. Pixantrone is supposed to do away with this very serious limitation. There have even been some smaller trials where pixantrone has been used with good results for patients who have already reached their maximum doxorubicin dose. An approval for pixantrone would open new therapeutic options for the treatment of both NHL and breast cancer. Erik
