How many Americans were directly affected by Pearl Harbor? Fewer Americans were killed in that attack than on 911.

Was WWII therefore an over-reaction and mistake ... or was it inevitable? I'd say the latter.

911 has been an isolated attack...

since we prevented the followup attacks that were supposed to occur on the west coast and in Chicago ...

and since we've prevented anymore attacks on our homeland even though we were promised there would be more.

Let's hope we continue to be successful at preventing attacks. Because the movement behind 911 certainly want to produce more attacks and will if they are able. We should hope they never get their hands on WMD's - because they'll have the means to make 911 look like childs play then.

For that reason we need to worry about countries with or developing nuclear weapons that have a history of supporting terror groups. That is what got us into Iraq. Its what the issue is re. Iran. And who knows, if the Pakistani gov't falls to extremists, we may have to worry about their nuclear weapons.
