Yes diplomacy never gets you the whole enchilada but it works better than having a war without the tools to fight it.

It does? The incompetent diplomacy that revolved around the UNSC and Saddam's regime, post-1991, was the PRIMARY REASON this war occurred.

Had the previous administration stringently enforced ANY of those 13 post-UNSC 687 binding UNSC resolutions, this war possibly would not have been necessary. Or it would have been fought at a time before Al Qai'da had mustered sufficient strength to counter-invade.

It's the direct failure of the international diplomatic community to enforce the legal sanctions, as well as the cease-fire agreement, that created the necessity to take military action in order to save the UNSC/UN as a force for global order and conflict resolution.
