Bill, the following is an excerpt is from a very recent CSFB report;

At a recent BIOCHIP conference held in San Diego industry
sources estimated that some 7-8 million Biochips would be
needed by the biotech and diagnostic industries by the year
2001.The market value of these chips was estimated at $900
million plus. Affymetrix stated that they had produced a
400,000 probe chip and had also produced "experimentally" a
1.6 million probe chip. We remain a Buy on the stock and
estimate EPS loss of $0.86 in 1997 and $0.80 in 1998. We
estimate earnings of $0.03 in 1999.
