I suggested internal doc distribution as an additional use. The primary use I did suggest, which was in accordance with the wording of the press release, was for the distribution of beta versions for software testing (such as Record-It).

Jaz and Zip discs may be inexpensive at an internal level -- but CD-R disks are even cheaper. In quantities as little as 100, you can get them for $3.75. To use actual IOM product for this, you have to consider that the product can't be sold for whatever price IOM usually gets (I'm assuming somewhat more than $4 for Zips). That is an opporunity cost. It is not an emabarrassment to minimize expenses in the interest of being practical, and using the appropriate tool for the job -- it's smart business.
