Lane3;

You can build quite a useful and ethical philosophy based on enlightened self interest. It supports an economic system, capitalism, a political system, democracy, and it supports personal ethical and value system independent of Judeo-Christianity. The tends to trigger thoughts of hippies....

Interesting comments - especially when put into the context of politics for pros. If you subscribe to the beliefs of Rand, how can you support the direction the republican party has taken? Is Rands virtue of selfishness (or however you want to label it), compatible with a party that insist on implementing a moral direction for the people - a moral direction of course based on fundamental Christian morality. If a person subscribes to Ayn's philosophies, isn't Paul the only republican candidate one could endorse?

I appreciate the comments, thanks;
steve
