"Maybe you don't get it. Maybe we need to leave. Maybe staying hoping for a victory that will never come is what's destructive to this country.

I get it and I see the typical flaw in your statement of what you assume my hopes to be... a future victory in Iraq. A military victory in Iraq over Saddam's regime has already been accomplished. As far as I know, that is the only one that has been declared as a goal. A future victory in Iraq would require the definition of an enemy to be defeated. Who is the enemy you are referring too? I don't believe our current operations in Iraq are directed at defeating a military enemy.

"We quit in Vietnam. We were fighting them there so we wouldn't have to fight them here. It was a fight for freedom, the dominoes and all that. We lost in Vietnam but we beat communism anyway. The dominoes didn't fall. We didn't have to fight them here.

We're not in Vietnam, there are no communist enemies in Iraq, there is not an enemy army in Iraq, the mission is not the same. Its a new world, leave your fondness for the 1960s in where it belongs, as I have ... 50 years in past history, in another era with its own circumstances. Everybody won. Now come into the 21st century everybody is going to win again.
