YOU forget the catalyst that has caused the never ending strife in the Israel-Pal area. No Arab "ran off" until Jews decided land where non-Jews lived should be a Jewish nation. Before that, everyone lived together with equal rights

The important question is what would have happened to the Jews, in Palestine and elsewhere in Arabia, had they continued to live as equals with their non-Jewish neighbors?

Israel demanded a peace treaty first - some assurance that the refugees wouldn't be sent back as part of an Arab army for the next war. The Brits tried to negotiate the treaty with an exchange of populations, similar to India. The Arabs chucked out their Jews, got the UN to feed the refugees in camps forever, and reneged on the rest of the deal. Will you for once pick up a history book before you decide in the wisdom of your ignorance what sounds plausible to you?

If the Arabs hadn't invaded promising to drive the Jews into the sea, there would have been no refugees in the first place! The Jews did not start the war. Five Arab armies invaded! Stop talking like the Arabs are automatons who don't have a choice what they do. Sure, non Jews had lived in Palestine, along with Jews, Christians, Druze, Turks, Circassians, everybody you could name.
Have you even noticed that you have absorbed the underlying assumption of your argument from the Arabs? For one group of the other people to make a state, as they did in the rest of the Middle East, for the Sunnis to rule Iraq or the Alawites to rule Syria, or ibn Saud to seize the Hijaz, that's normal. Everybody must adjust and live goes on.
But when Jews do it, omigosh, it's the original sin, it's an offense, of course everybody must hate them forever. Other people can have nations, but for the Jews to want to control a postage stamp of land in their ancestral homeland, well naturally everybody wants to kill them, what other reaction could there be?

Their displacement was 0% based on their religion, which was Christian as well as Muslim. It was based on a state of war and on the politics of the time. If it had been based on their religion, it would have been done completely and no Arabs would have been left in Israel.

The Jews of Palestine never lived as equals until the British came. They lived like dogs, at the mercy of the rulers, reminded daily of their degraded state. Nobody lives like equals under Muslim rule unless they are Muslim. Show me one single solitary Arab country today where non-Muslims live as equals. Syria? Egypt? Saudi Arabia? Jordan? Go ahead, point one out. If you can't find one, then stop blaming the victim for the result of the crime. |
