Antitrust Waiting Period for Olin's Acquisition of Pioneer Expires

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) -- Chemical maker Olin Corp. said Monday the antitrust waiting period for its $413 million acquisition of rival Pioneer Cos. has expired.

Olin agreed in May to purchase Pioneer for $35 per share. Pioneer currently has 11.8 million shares outstanding, according to Thomson Financial.

The expiration of the antitrust waiting period satisfies a condition of the acquisition agreement.

The transaction is still subject to conditions including approval by Pioneer's shareholders.

The deal is expected to close in the second half of the year.
