Another terrorist attack at this time (terrible to think about it), would ruin the Republicans. Part of the mantra we hear now from Administration backers- in fact almost the only part they have left - is that we have not been attacked on our soil since 9/11, so the President is doing a good job..

But with border security a joke, efforts to curtail foreign radioactive materials stalled, the seeming inefficiency of Homeland Security, et al.....if we were attacked the President would be blamed, not ralllied behind.
