The World Series of Poker Main Event crashed and burned this year relative to last year. Last year, Jamie Gold walked away with over $12 million. This year, the champ will win a little over $8 million. Nearly a one third drop in one year. Thanks, Congress and your anti-gambling Puritans. Now, will it drop again next year? Maybe. There will be no outside force like the govt. putting web site personnel in jail next year. So, if it drops again, da mania will officially be over. The signs are out there. Celebrity Poker has been cancelled by Bravo. The World Poker Tour is leaving The Travel Channel for the even more marginal Gaming Channel. I haven't heard it announced, but I think The Professional Poker Tour is toast. NBC and Fox are still going strong with their productions, so that is a positive.

The Heads Up Championship was highlighted by an actress, Shannon Elizabeth, making the final four. But the final will be two young gun pros with a lot of wins on their resume.

And I have a complaint that Shannon Elizabeth is more cute than sexy. Next year they have to get Catherine Zeta-Jones to the final table.
