my niece, who is 24 years old, makes $2K/month as a team leader for a BPO firm in India. My friend who is around 45 years old, makes $8K/month working for a multinational IT firm.

Their cost of living (exclude mortgage) is almost identical.

I agree that you wont find these wages in rural India, but in the cities, and within hi-tech, you will find them.
