The three state solution is an interesting concept. Bottom line there has to be an independent Palestinian state in any solution. The Palestinians need to realize that Israel has got to be recognized and the Israelis need to compromise on land for peace.

Well two states where Israel bisects the new non-contiguous Palestinian state has zero chance of success. It's in fact ridiculous. How long do you think it will be before you can drive freely from Gaza to the West Bank, a century or two?

Perhaps the example of what happened to the original one-state non-contiguous Pakistan bisected by India, where it disolved into Pakistan and Bangladesh, is a good example. Gaza should be on nation, and God knows what is going to become of the West Bank. But, they should be settled separately.

As far as land for peace, give it a test run in Gaza. Israel gave up the land. It's time for Gaza to declare sovereinity and give peace in return. If Gaza won't do it, there's no reason to believe other Pal held regions will.

What I'm amazed at is the rush of Israel and the US to prop up the Fatah team that has failed for the past 10 years. Propping up Hamas in Gaza makes a hell of a lot more sense. The people of Gaza have expressed themselves in elections and a violent expulsion of Fatah, and there is no "land-border" issue with Gaza as there is in the West Bank. So the so called "international community" ought to get Gaza up and running as "Pal state #1", and once that is finished move onto the other Pal refugees. If Gaza (with no occupation and no border issue) can't get up and running and have normal relations with Israel, the rest of the Pal diaspora is a non-starter. If Gaza, with no border issues with Israel can't stop its population from launching rockets into Israel, the rest of the Pal situation is/remains hopeless. But it's crazy to ask Israel to give up more land for peace when the peace side of the equation never appears.
