Just three of the 40 biggest pending LBOs have an escape clause that lets the buyer back out if funding can't be arranged So the LBO kings are going to have to close, and their investment banks are going to get the financing terms put to them whether they want to proceed or not -- what poetic justice -- maybe there isn't an endless supply of suckers for all this paper after all. I love this quote from NIMI Boston -- "Many of these things are beyond our risk desires" -- if that doesn't just say it all...... If something upsets the rate cart again and one of these big deals collapses, the markets will probably see a replay of the failed United Airlines deal in 1989 -- then you'll get your crash, although it might not be the 1987-scale version
