Company Press Release

Saville Opens Third European Office To Support Global Demand For Its Convergent Billing And Customer Care System

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 1997--

New office to support telecom service providers in Germany, Austria,
Switzerland and Eastern Europe

To support growing European demand for its leading convergent billing and customer care system, Saville (NASDAQ:SAVLY) announced it opened a third European office that will support telecom service providers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe. The new office, which is located in Wiesbaden, Germany, is headed by Michael Freyer, manager of sales.

Saville's new office is yet another step forward in the company's global development plan. Over the past six months the company has grown from 600 to more than a thousand employees, and has opened offices in London, Singapore and Miami, in addition to its offices in the U.S., Ireland and Canada. Saville's new central European office has been established to support the company's growing customer base. Saville has won major contract wins with leading European telecom service providers including AT&T UK, GlobalOne, Barak I.T.C., Matav, EnerTel and Energis.

''There is a recognized requirement for telecom convergence in Europe. This is apparent from the activity we've seen in Germany and Sweden, where service providers view convergence as a value-added service that enables them to win major business customers,'' said Tony Bethell, vice president of sales and marketing for Saville Europe. ''Under Michael's leadership, Saville will provide local service and support to its clients and partners to help them successfully implement our
systems and begin providing convergent services across central and eastern Europe.''

Michael Freyer, who has more than 20 years of experience in the German high tech and telecommunications industries, recently worked with Deutsch Telekom developing new enterprise systems.

Demand for Saville's convergent billing and customer care system has increased in Europe and around the world as service providers realize convergence's business benefits. In the past, billing convergence was viewed as the ability to produce an integrated invoice, which is now known as electronic stapling. True convergence allows one-stop shopping for customer care and provisioning, and innovative marketing such as service bundling to create products and cross-product/service
discounts. Saville has 150 telecom professionals located in Europe to support its rapidly expanding customer base.

Saville's new office is located at Kreuszerger Ring 21, D-65205 Wiesbaden, Germany, and can be reached at +49 611 9748 425 or +49 611 9748 100 (fax).
